FSP’s unique in-house concept and excellence team play an important part in increasing the quality of surface treatment processes and results at Mitsubishi Logisnext in Järvenpää, Finland.
Teemu Salonen, Head of Factory Operations, and Simo Kangastupa, Head of Sourcing, are playing a key role in managing Production, Supply Chain and Quality at Mitsubishi Logisnext. In close collaboration with Jaako Saari, Project Leader at FSP, they manage the surface treatment line and production for forklift trucks.
“We realized that surface treatment is an essential part of our operations but not our core business. To excel in this area, we needed significant resources regarding painting technology expertise and surface treatment knowledge, Teemu says.
Mitsubishi evaluated the Finnish painting industry and selected FSP because they had a unique in-house concept and expertise in surface treatment for metal parts and components.
“We needed someone who could both lead and develop the surface treatment line, ensuring the correct competence and thus being in the forefront, as the rest of our production. Their in-house paint shop-concept was ideal for us, Simo continues.
Mitsubishi Logisnext outsourced wet paint operations in their factory. FSP acts as a partner, taking responsibility for the operations of the surface treatment line as well as for employees and skills management.
“We aim to deliver the best customer experience, where surface treatment plays an important role. We want our customers to feel that our products are the best in the field. Teaming up with FSP allows us to focus on what we do best while they do what they do best. The synergy effect of our cooperation is substantial, ” Simo says.
Mitsubishi Logisnext has a high level of technology and production routines in their top-modern production facility.
“Controlling material flow is crucial, and we constantly strive for improvements. We use state-of-the-art ERP programs, manufacturing execution system and computer systems. This focus on efficiency and enhances cost competitiveness.” Teemu says.
A dedicated excellence team from FSP assists in project leading and strategic decision-making regarding the construction of a new surface treatment line. FSP is an essential partner in the new investment, supporting, advising, and designing the latest build from scratch.
“We are investing significantly in a new state-of-the-art painting line with the aim to minimize emissions. The project began in November 2023 and the help from FSP here is invaluable. Having a partner with expertise in surface treatment makes us able to build the new facility as sustainable and effective as possible from the start.” Simo says.
An operative excellence team from FSP works closely with MLE to streamline production and processes in the existing surface treatment line. This means, among other things, improving quality and providing back-office support.
