Our employee Esko Nieminen (November 14, 1956–September 12, 2020) has passed away due to a serious illness. He is dearly missed by relatives and friends as well as a large group of co-workers.

An eager traveller, Esko Nieminen is here on his way to Koli in the summer 2020. Picture from Esko Nieminen’s home album.

Esko Nieminen worked in FSP for altogether thirteen years, mostly as a construction and maintenance person. His duties included fixing and maintaining paint sprays and blasting equipment, and installing air conditioning and heating in closed spaces.

Fellow employees remember Nieminen as a hard-working and collaborative colleague. He did what he promised and was always prepared to help others. Exemplifying his reliability and commitment, Nieminen was hoping to return to working life even after a lengthy sick leave. He had formerly worked as an entrepreneur, which partly explains his energetic and productive outlook.

In his spare time Nieminen, known for being friendly to everyone, was interested in drag racing which he actively followed. Nature was also important for Nieminen, whose hobbies included fishing, travelling and relaxing in a wood-heated sauna.

We will remember Esko for his good work and present our condolences to his relatives. Writing of this obituary has been assisted by Markku Sievers, sandblaster, health and safety representative and a long-term close colleague of Esko Nieminen at the Rauma shipyard.
