HEADING TOWARDS THE NEW YEAR WITH JOY AND INNOVATION
Welcome to read the final issue of For Surface Treatment magazine in 2019. Like before, we will discuss various topical subjects and news about our work.
This autumn, Sami Pappinen joined FSP as Surface Treatment Specialist and Quality Manager. His work includes internal audits, quality control and developing our specialist services. Sami is a true veteran in surface treatment, always emphasizing the significance of practical expertise in development work.
Our Development Manager Rauli Yrjänä discusses FSP’s digital and other development projects. We are pleased about the opportunity for a student cooperation this autumn. We have taken part in an innovation project conducted by biotechnology and chemical engineering students. It’s target is to find more efficient and environmentally friendly methods of waste management. This is an extremely important subject.
In this issue, we also get to visit Porvoo and Poland.
Neste’s refinery in Kilpilahti, Porvoo is one of Europe’s most versatile refineries. We are running two surface treatment facilities on the grounds of the Kilpilahti complex, and we also do a lot of project work in the area, such as fireproofing. Jyri Hyttinen, Area Technician at the Neste Porvoo refinery, discusses the everyday work on the refinery area, its special requirements and cooperation with FSP.
Our new production line is up and running in Stargard, Poland. Samuli Laine-Zamojski, who is responsible for business development and sales in Poland, shares insight on the new line. He also discusses his own background as an expert on Poland, as well as the Polish business environment.
In Finland, our operations are growing due to an acquisition. The surface treatment operations of Sandvik Mining and Construction Oy, located in the Vahdontie factory in Turku, are transferred in their entirety to FSP in a transfer of business, effective on January 1, 2020.
In the end of this magazine, you will find an interview of FSP itself! We wish to continuously improve our service and communications. To be able to do so, we must first know ourselves properly. That’s why we captured the personality of FSP in a character that tells about us and the things that matter to us, in a somewhat surprising but cheerful way.
So, in a cheerful mood we are heading towards the year 2020. We’d like to wish a happy and successful new year for you. Warmest thanks for cooperation!
